Clinton scored significant wins Tuesday in eight states -- including California, New York and Massachusetts and is ahead in the delegate count. California and New York are the biggest jewels of the primaries and in Mass. she won despite the Obama endorsements and campaigning of Ted Kennedy and John Kerry. In California, her win was largely due to women, Hispanic and Asians, while white males favored Obama.
The immediate next two or three weeks of primaries probably favor Obama: the Louisiana primary and Nebraska and Washington caucuses Saturday, the Maine caucuses Sunday and the so-called Potomac primaries in Virginia, Maryland and the District of Columbia next Tuesday, although the Clinton strategy may be to try to hold on or at least hold her ground in Virgina and Maryland.
February 19 Wisconsin holds its primaryand March 4th voters in Ohio, Rhode Island, Texas and Vermont head to the polls, and April 22 they vote in Pennsylvania.
Thus far, the Clinton strategy has been to target the big delegate rich states. Therefore Texas and Ohio could be key. If Clinton wins these two States she can say she has won all the big states and Obama will only have won Ill., his home state and Georgia, on the strength of African American voters.
Stay tuned.
