For a detailed account of the actual process in Iowa and other States, check out the following by Joe Rothstein, editor of US Politics Today, a former daily newspaper editor and long-time national political strategist based in Washington, D.C.
• A Guide to Nominating Candidates for President: It's A Maze; It's Unpredictable; It's About to Get a Lot More Interesting [15 Aug 2007 - 15:28]
Rothstein also reminds us "And lest we forget, two "third party" options are very much alive. Mayor Bloomberg keeps saying "no," but all of his activities lean toward "yes."
Then there's the Unity '08 movement, which envisions a summer Internet primary with millions of "delegates" who select a nominee via the Internet. The group has raised serious money, has an excellent potential for placing itself on the ballot in all 50 states, and could prove attractive as a vehicle for a Bloomberg, Hagel, Lieberman, or other heavyweight third party contender."
So it really could get a lot more interesting as we move along!
